TWIN FALLS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
As summer arrives, many of us look forward to vacations, outdoor recreation, community events, and time with family and friends. While this season brings many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, it also comes with seasonal safety risks that require our attention.
Our county’s first priority is keeping residents safe, healthy, and prepared. We encourage everyone to take a few simple precautions to help ensure a safe and enjoyable summer.
Hot temperatures can quickly lead to dehydration and heat-related illness. Remember to:
Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
Limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest hours.
Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and sunscreen.
Check on older adults, neighbors, and anyone who may be vulnerable to extreme heat.
Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle, even for a few minutes.
Whether you’re visiting pools, lakes, rivers, or reservoirs, water safety should always come first.
Closely supervise children around water at all times.
Wear properly fitted life jackets when boating or participating in water sports.
Learn CPR and basic water rescue skills.
Avoid swimming alone and pay attention to local water conditions and warnings.
Our first responders and Sheriff’s Office work tirelessly to keep our waterways safe, but prevention remains the best protection. These few simple precautions can help ensure every outing ends safely. Water is one of our region’s most valuable resources. This year, drought conditions and reduced irrigation deliveries have increased the importance of conservation efforts throughout the Magic Valley.
Every resident can make a difference by:
• Watering lawns efficiently and only when necessary
• Repairing leaks promptly
• Avoiding unnecessary outdoor water use
• Following local irrigation schedules and conservation guidelines
• Using drought-tolerant landscaping where practical
Small actions taken by thousands of households can significantly reduce demand and help preserve water supplies for agriculture, businesses, and future generations.
Twin Falls County has always been a community that comes together to meet challenges. By practicing safe recreation and responsible water use, we protect not only ourselves but also our neighbors.
Thank you for doing your part to keep our county safe, resilient, and prepared for the months ahead. We wish you and your family a safe, enjoyable, and memorable summer.
